After a long day at work, school, or taking care of the kids, many people seek out a place of relaxation in their home to ease the day’s stresses. If you are one of those people, we have some tips to help turn your bathroom into your own private oasis. To create this ideal bathroom, it will not take much time or money – through paint, lighting, fabrics, and spa-inspired décor; you can easily have the dream bathroom you have always wanted in your Florida new home.
When you redecorate your bathroom the first thing to consider are colors. Shades of blue, green and purple have the most soothing effect on the mind and body and can easily be paired with neutrals. Teal with brown, purple and gold, or beige and greens are popular color combinations for a bathroom. To keep your decorating on the cheap, you probably do not want to replace flooring, counters or wall tile, so choose a paint color that will coordinate nicely with your more “permanent” features.
Next, decide on your bathroom fixtures. The style and finish of your faucets and light fixtures are important to your overall look. Make sure whichever finish you go with – the most common are chrome, nickel and bronze – all the fixtures are the same finish. When it comes to lighting, you want bulbs that are bright enough to put makeup on, but consider a dimmer switch so that you can turn the lights down to set a relaxing mood for showering or soaking in the tub.
Clutter creates stress, so take a look at your countertops and make sure that they are not overwhelmed with items you can put in cabinets. If you have a large amount of bath bubbles and oils place them in a decorative basket by the tub. If you don’t have any, get some! Suds scented with lavender or other aromatherapy scents can help to melt away your worries at the end of a long day. Lastly, add candles or scented oil diffusers on the countertop and around the tub – choose a scent which appeals to you and is not overwhelming.
Turning your bathroom into a relaxing sanctuary will give you a place to unwind and rejuvenate. As always, have fun and be creative when decorating. Set your budget and shop in spurts to get all of your items on sale – it doesn’t all have to come together in one day!
