Are you searching for a new home in an incredible beach town? Then look no further than Sarasota, Florida, one of the top beach towns in the entire country! With an abundance of recreation opportunities, entertainment destinations and beautiful Gulf Coast beaches, it’s no surprise that Sarasota is a great place to call home.

Best Beach Towns

Owning a home near the beach is a life-long dream for many who view beach living as the ultimate relaxed and luxurious lifestyle. However, most don’t realize that actually owning a new home near the beach is doable, no matter your price range. That’s one of the many reasons WalletHub’s Best Beach Towns to Live in list is so great – one of the major factors it takes into consideration is affordability, as well as weather, education and healthcare, and overall quality of life.

To determine the beach communities that are ideal for homeowners, WalletHub compared 205 cities across 58 key indicators of livability. WalletHub split the comparison into two categories – towns located near oceans and towns near lakes. Key factors ranged from housing costs, to share of for-sale waterfront homes, to quality of beach water.

Sarasota earned the No. 3 spot on WalletHub’s list, with a total score of 61.09 (by comparison, the No. 1 city, Lahaina, HI, received a total score of 64.90). Sarasota ranked highest for its overall quality of life, which included factors such as average commute time, number of attractions, public beaches, festivals, music venues, and more. In fact, Sarasota ranked No. 1 for number of nightlife establishments, restaurants, and coffee shops per capita!

In addition to quality of life, Sarasota was lauded for its education opportunities, healthcare facilities, great weather, and overall affordability. These are all great reasons to own your own piece of Sarasota real estate paradise!

Overall Well-Being

Sarasota’s ranking as a great place to live was further cemented by its inclusion on the Gallup-Sharecare Well-Being Index. The index uses five essential elements of well-being to score each community or metro area:

  1. Purpose – Liking what you do each day and being motivated to achieve your goals.
  2. Social – Having supportive relationships and love in your life.
  3. Financial – Managing your economic life to reduce stress and increase security.
  4. Community – Liking where you live, feeling safe and having pride in your community.
  5. Physical – Having good health and enough energy to get things done daily.

Sarasota landed at No. 7 on the overall well-being list with a total score of 64.6. The city was highest ranked in the financial category, where it ranked third out of all cities included on the list. Knowing the community is full of happy, productive people is just one more reason to own real estate in Sarasota!
