Orlando Housing Market has Successful 2012: 2013 Expected to be Even Better
Orlando was one of the hardest hit areas when the real estate market crashed in 2007, but 2012 was the best year the market had seen since 2008 and according to housing experts, 2013 is expected to be even better. As an Orlando home builder, Highland Homes celebrated a fantastic 2012 and is excited to see what’s in store for 2013.
In 2012, Orlando home builders pulled 5,642 permits for new single-family homes, up 62 percent from the 3,354 permits in 2011. Home starts have increased as existing inventory has dwindled, giving builders a golden opportunity to build and sell new construction to fulfill the needs of home buyers. According to an article by Seminole Voice, Orlando currently has just a three-month supply of inventory, which is down 18 percent from this time in 2011.
To compensate for the dwindling inventory, home builders, including Highland Homes, have started more construction on new homes. Highland Homes is currently building beautiful new homes in two communities in metro Orlando: Deer Creek in St. Cloud and Whitemarsh in Leesburg, as well as Highland Meadows in nearby Davenport.
2013 is a great year to purchase the central Florida new home of your dreams. The National Association of Realtors® predicts that new home sales will increase nationally from 368,000 in 2012 to approximately 575,000 in 2013. The Orlando real estate market has gotten off to a quick start in 2013 with 1,923 homes sold in January 2013, up 11.1 percent from January 2012.
Make this year your best year yet by purchasing your dream home. In addition to Orlando, Highland Homes offer Lakeland, Winter Haven and Tampa new homes in more than 25 communities. Our homes are affordably priced from the low-$100,000s and to make your dreams of homeownership even more affordable, qualified buyers can move into their new home for just $99 down.
