Auburndale may just be one of Florida’s best-kept secrets! Located in the heart of Central Florida, this adorable town is situated directly between Orlando and Tampa, and is an ideal place to live, work, and play. The small community is full of sun, fun, and events, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy nature.

If you are searching for a new home in Auburndale, Florida, here are six of the best reasons to call Auburndale home.

1. Games and Fun at Lake Myrtle Sports Park

Are you into sports? Whether you play or enjoy watching athletic endeavors, this multi-purpose sports complex has an impressive nine collegiate-size baseball fields, eleven lighted soccer fields, and is home to an abundance of events. From youth athletics to collegiate tournaments, volleyball to lacrosse, and events such as the Cornhole Pros Shootout and National Dog Agility Championships, there’s almost always something going on at Lake Myrtle Sports Park.

Lake Myrtle Sports Park is also home to the Polk County Sports Hall of Fame. At this unique museum, celebrate top athletes, teams, and special events hailing from right here in Polk County. Visit the Hall of Fame to learn more about the 83 inductees from 12 different sports that have been recognized as the best at their game.

2. Take a Trek on the Auburndale TECO Trail

Auburndale TECO Trail

The popular 6.6-mile paved Auburndale TECO Trail starts at Denton Avenue near Lake Myrtle in Auburndale and heads north to Polk City where it connects with the General James A. Van Fleet Trail. Ideal for walking, jogging, cycling, or rollerblading, with much of the trail shaded, it’s an enjoyable place for a casual stroll or more strenuous exercise. You may even see bald eagles or other wildlife along the way!

The trail passes through Lake Myrtle Sports Park and this dog-friendly path also provides access to the Auburndale Dog Park where your best friend can run and play while you sit in the shade. The dog park includes play equipment for your pup, separate areas for small and large dogs, and a perennial doggie favorite – a fire hydrant.

3. Hit the Water at Elite Cable Park

Florida is known for being a prime watersports destination, and Auburndale is home to one of water enthusiasts’ favorite places – Elite Cable Park! This unique destination is a full-sized cable park designed for wakeboarders of every skill level. If you’re just starting out, take a one-on-one coached lesson on the “Little Bro” cable system. Once you’ve learned the basics and are ready for more adrenaline, the full-sized cable with UNIT features (jumps, ramps, and rails) is ideal for learning new tricks. You can even try your hand at waterskiing, wakeskating, and kneeboarding at the park!

If you have kiddos aged 9 to 15, get them signed up for one of the best summer camps around. The summer camp program at Elite Cable Park not only includes wakeboarding lessons, gear, and plenty of time on the water to hone their skills, but also off-water activities.

When you visit the park, plan to enjoy lunch at Tantrums Lakeside Grill, which offers sandwiches, tacos, seafood baskets, and rice bowls, as well as a variety of cold treats – all ideal to cool off after a day on the water! The best part? Enjoy these tasty treats on a cool deck overlooking all of the watersports action!

If you are new to watersports, no worries – Elite Cable Park has an impressive Pro Shop with items for purchase or rent including boards, helmets, life vests, and more. And, if you’re a seasoned rider, memberships make it easy to hit the water as often as you’d like.

4. Spend the Day at Walt Disney World Resort

It goes without saying that one of the perks of living in Central Florida is enjoying convenient access to the happiest place on Earth – Walt Disney World! While not actually in Auburndale, it's situated just 26 miles or a short 30-minute drive away, which means Walt Disney World can easily become a frequently visited destination when you call Auburndale home. With four incredible theme parks continually introducing exciting new shows and attractions (we are extra excited for the brand-new Tron Lightcycle Power Run, coming later this year), having convenient access to this magical place is forever one of our favorite things about living in Central Florida.

Speaking of shopping and dining, living in Auburndale gives you access to visit one of Central Florida’s unique destinations – International Market World! Officially it's a flea market but this unique spot features so much more with music, shopping, food - even alligators and circus shows! The venue is home to more than 1,200 vendors, artisans, and farmers selling everything from farm-fresh produce to tools, clothing, sporting goods, and one-of-a-kind treasures.
