Ayersworth Glen is Making Headlines!

Posted by Highland Homes on March 5, 2010 · Comments (0)

SOLD smlFor what seems like years, newspapers and other media outlets have been filled with nothing but negative stories related to the housing industry. We’ve seen headlines like “Housing prices drop,” “Record foreclosure rates,” and “Builder Declare Bankruptcy.” While we know that not everything related to the Florida real estate market has been negative the past couple of years, news outlets rarely publish positive stories because they just don’t sell like negative features. So, to see the St. Petersburg Times publish a positive news story about the housing market is a huge deal. What makes it an even bigger deal is that Ayersworth Glen, a master-planned community in Tampa where Highland Homes builds, was the article’s lead.

What is so newsworthy at Ayersworth Glen? Sold signs and construction! Construction workers head to the community on a daily basis to add more and more homes to the community, many of which have already been purchased. When driving through the streets of the community, you see empty lots with SOLD signs in front of them and many occupied residences. Read More→

USF Polytechnic to Open New Campus in Lakeland

Posted by Highland Homes on February 19, 2010 · Comments (0)

In an economy where most everything seems to be struggling, Central Florida is booming. Before we know it, construction will begin on Legoland in Winter Haven and Bartow is happy to welcome the new Metromont Concrete manufacturing plans. In addition, and probably some of the most exciting news for Central Florida, the University of South Florida Polytechnic has broken ground on their new campus, which is located at the eastern intersection of the I-4 and the Polk Parkway in North Lakeland.

Projected to open in late summer 2012, the new campus is a tremendous addition to the area. USFP chose this specific location because it is situated along Florida’s High Tech Corridor. The I-4, which connects Tampa and Orlando, is one of the state’s main transportation and tourist routes, increasing visibility for the university while also raising the profile of the region as a technology incubator. Cypress Gardens to Become Legoland

Posted by Kathie McDaniel on February 16, 2010 · Comments (0)

Cypress GardensCypress Gardens was sold again and this time the new owners are re-inventing this Winter Haven, Florida theme park. Cypress Gardens, billed as the oldest theme park in Florida has been a destination of millions from around the world for several decades and was always known for the water-skiing stunts and acrobats along with the gorgeous gardens.

Cypress Gardens arose from water-skiing exhibitions in the 1930s. The attraction later became as well known for its flower-drenched botanical gardens and the presence of Southern belles in elaborate hoop skirts. The attraction has changed owners several times in recent years and closed for the first time in 2003. It reopened with a new owner in 2004, only to shut down again two years later. The owners closed the park in 2008 and spent months renovating it before opening again last year. But the attraction closed again without warning in September.

Merlin Entertainments Group, the operator of Legoland theme parks, has bought the Winter Haven Park, after months of speculation following the abrupt closure of Cypress Gardens in September. Read More→
