Orlando new homesWith median home prices in Orlando rising, the local housing market is on fire. So much so, a recent report by ZipRealty ranked Orlando as No. 5 on its list of the top 10 booming real estate markets with the best public schools.  Education is often an important consideration for home buyers, so this news is welcome for home shoppers looking to purchase an Orlando new home.

To compile its list of the top 10 booming real estate markets in the United States, ZipRealty looked at growth in median home prices as of mid-August 2013. With a current median home price of $144,900, Orlando has seen a 26 percent increase in year-over-year median home values.

Orlando was the only Florida housing market to make the list. Here is the complete top 10 list from ZipRealty:

  1. Sacramento
  2. San Francisco Bay
  3. Las Vegas
  4. Los Angeles
  5. Orlando
  6. Phoenix
  7. San Diego
  8. Orange County, Calif.
  9. Chicago
  10. Portland

This isn’t the first report to rank Orlando as tops for education or housing – earlier this year, Movoto ranked Orlando as one of the smartest cities in the US.  Additionally, Orlando ranks 6th nationwide for employment satisfaction.  With the city’s abundance of attractions, shopping and dining, Orlando is the place to be and now is a great time to purchase an Orlando new home.
