Sales of New Homes in Orlando Continue to Improve

new homes in OrlandoAt this point, there is no denying that the Florida housing market is recovering and building momentum as existing home sales and new home starts continue to improve. Specifically, sales of new homes in Orlando have sharply risen as more and more buyers have been moving to central Florida.

According to housing research firm Metrostudy, Orlando new home sales in the fourth quarter of 2012 were up 47 percent from the fourth quarter in 2011 and up 38 percent for the entire year. The Orlando Regional REALTOR® Association also reported an increase of almost 20 percent in the number of sales overall, an increase in traditional sales and a decrease in short sales and foreclosures.  This helped to raise Orlando sales prices to the highest point in three years. Veterans DayTampa home builder Highland Homes salutes our nation’s uniformed men and women, and we are proud to partner up with Gator Harley-Davidson in Leesburg for their Nov. 5 Salute to Veterans ride and event, benefitting Disabled American Veterans.

The festivities begin at 9:30 a.m. at Gator Harley-Davidson with a pancake breakfast, and kickstands will go up at 11:30 a.m. for a police escorted ride to Stormy Hill Harley-Davidson in Clermont. There will be live music and drawings for prizes throughout the day.

The cost is $15 a rider and $10 a passenger. The first 350 people registered will receive breakfast, lunch dog tag and entry to win a $1,000 Gator/Stormy Hill gift card!

Prices for Orlando New Homes on the Rise

According to an Orlando Sentinel article, for the first time in four years, the median Orlando new home price showed an increase from the year before. And, with the local real estate industry noting a 23 percent price increase since the beginning of this year, new homebuyers must hurry if they want to get the best deals on Orlando new homes.

Orlando isn’t the only Florida city seeing an uptick in new home prices. Recently, we told you that the Tampa Tribune is also reporting an increase in prices for Tampa new homes as well.
