Check out the Highland homes Digital Postcard
Posted by on September 29, 2009 | Comments
The latest digital postcard from Highland Homes highlights the many new and exciting things taking place with the company. While there are many great things brewing for Highland Homes, the most notable are the three new communities that have recently opened – St. James Crossing, Deer Creek and Crescent View. While opening three new communities is a tremendous feat all in itself, especially taking into consideration the current state of the economy, it’s even more impressive that Highland Homes is venturing into a new market with one them. Deer Creek is the first Orland new home community for Highland Homes, and we are beyond elated to finally break into this exciting market. Despite having been open only a couple of weeks, we have already sold our first home!
The two other communities, St. James Crossing and Crescent View, both feature new homes in Winter Haven. St. James Crossing is a little closer to Auburndale and only minutes from the Polk Parkway and I-4, while Crescent View is more on the southern tip of Winter Haven only five minutes from Cypress Gardens and Eagle Lake Mall. New Fire Station in Winter Haven
Posted by on July 15, 2009 | Comments
Residents of Winter Haven may feel a little safer with the construction of a new 21,000 square-foot fire station officially underway. The property for the fire station was purchased by the City of Winter Haven. Located on U.S. 17 South, the site has been combined with other property the city also owned. In total, the fire station sits on two acres of land.
The Winter Haven fire station is relocating simply because the 551 Third Street NW location is too small. After 37 years of standing adjacent to City Hall, the Fire Department out grew its building.
The City boasts this new station will by the first “green” structure in Winter Haven. Read More→
Local College Adds Educational Opportunities
Posted by on July 6, 2009 | CommentsOn July 1st, Polk Community College officially became Polk State College. The name change reflects the addition of baccalaureate offers at the college. The changed name and added opportunities are very exciting for students, faculty and PSC’s District Board of Trustees. The new chapter at PSC began last June when the State Legislature passed a bill establishing the State College Pilot Project for nine community colleges, including Polk State College.
According to PSC President, Eileen Holden, the name change and degree program shows that Polk Community College has added opportunities. Even with the added educational opportunities, she insisted that the college’s primary mission of providing two-year, employment focused degrees remains the same.
The college will begin offering classes for the four-year degree program in January 2010. The new bachelor of applied science supervision and management program has three areas of concentration. Read More→
Crescent View Features Winter Haven New Homes
Posted by on April 17, 2009 | Comments
Highland Homes is pushing through the current housing market and opening a new community in Winter Haven called Crescent View. Central Florida home shoppers are going to love Crescent View’s exceptional location, just off 653 near the Chain of Lakes Elementary school. Winter Haven new homes at Crescent View are priced from the $130’s and floor plans range from 1,100 square feet to over 2,800. Catering the needs of every possible home shopper, both ranch and two-story plans are available.
An interesting tidbit about Crescent View is that the community was started by another builder in 2006. Unfortunately the economy was not kind to this builder, so Highland Homes acquired the property earlier this year, and has high hopes for the completion of the community by the end of 2010.
