This past weekend, October 19th and 20th, marked the beginning of Polk County’s Fall Parade of Homes. Parade judges visited the entries the day before the Parade began to rank the homes in a variety of categories. Upon entering the Highland Homes Willow model home at Hartford Estates, the judges were so impressed by the well-designed layout that they honored the home on the spot with a Special Feature Award for the floor plan. The accolades did not end there and after tallying up votes from the judges, the Willow took home three awards total: Best Exterior, Best Floor Plan and Best Master Bath in the $184,267 to $225,000 category. After one of the worst housing market crashes in history, it is exciting to see all of the positive progress that has been made throughout the past year. From an increase in buyer demand to rising home prices, all signs point to the housing market bouncing back in a big way.
Specifically, real estate in Polk County saw a hefty annual increase in August with the county’s median sale price for existing homes rising to $130,000. According to the Florida Realtors Association, that is a 23.8 percent increase from 2012. Across the state of Florida, August represented the 20th month in a row that the single-family home price has increased year-over-year. Statewide, the median sales price for existing single-family homes hit $175,000 in August, an 18.6 percent increase from August 2012. (more…)
