Permitting Administrator

Description

Highland Homes, a successful Florida home builder, is now hiring a Permitting Administrator! The Permitting Administrator's responsibilities include applying for permits with the respective municipalities, compiling, updating, and maintaining reports and files.

The position is based at our corporate office in Lakeland, Florida, with regular hours scheduled Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Candidates must live in Central Florida or be willing to relocate to Central Florida for consideration.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain documents from Engineering to facilitate the permit application process
  • Obtain all required approvals for permits and act as a liaison between the company and each municipality
  • Prepare and submit applications to various agencies/boards having jurisdiction over required permits and/or approvals
  • Prepare check requests
  • Coordinate paperwork and applications with outside consultants as necessary 
  • Submit paperwork for permits
  • Work closely with the municipalities on the status of permits and ensure they are processed in a timely manner
  • Enter permitting data
  • Prepare start packages for Construction Managers
  • Obtain private inspections reports needed for closing
  • Maintain all company files relating to site plan applications, approvals, licenses, and permits
  • Other tasks as requested

Qualifications:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1 year of permitting experience required
  • Experience with single/multi-family and amenity permitting preferred
  • Knowledge of the Construction Industry preferred
  • Strong organizational and management skills, ability to prioritize and take initiative
  • Must be able to read blueprints and plot plans
  • Must be a detail-oriented team player comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a heavy volume workload
  • Advanced PC skills Microsoft Word and Excel  
  • Excellent follow-up, communication (written and verbal), and time management skills
  • Able to professionally perform multiple detail-oriented tasks with simultaneous deadlines
  • Central Florida resident or willingness to relocate to Central Florida
