Social Media Strategist


At Highland Homes, marketing is about understanding people — and building awareness about how our products and services can satisfy their needs. 

The Social Media Strategist is responsible for implementing the social media strategies for Highland Homes to increase brand awareness and improve our marketing and sales efforts. They will need to be comfortable on camera to execute brand-level campaigns and build strong online communities through social media channels. An important function of this position is community management and responding to positive and negative comments; therefore, the Social Media Strategist must be an excellent communicator with a deep understanding of Highland Homes and our culture. The position is based at our corporate office in Lakeland, Florida, with travel to events or communities throughout Central Florida as needed. This position is regular corporate hours scheduled Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with occasional weekend flexibility for business or event needs. Candidates must live in Central Florida or be willing to relocate to Central Florida for consideration.


Objectives and Responsibilities

  • Sets and implements social media and communication campaigns to align with marketing strategies Provides brand promotion through engaging text, image and video content for social media accounts
  • Responsible for content, photography, PR and videography to develop engaging content for social media channels
  • Create and manage organic social calendars across all channels (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest) to amplify overall marketing strategy
  • Advises management on social media content to ensure brand consistency
  • Respond to comments and customer queries in a timely manner as well as reviews on all platforms, both social media and review-based
  • Lead social-listening, manage cross-channel social community, and oversee all user-generated content
  • Impact community growth and engagement across all channels
  • Attend grand openings, company-sponsored events, homeowner events, and realtor events to engage followers through social media to encourage attendance and participation
  • Define social media KPI’s and track campaign performance to identify opportunities through key channel KPI’s to maximize marketing effectiveness
  • Stay up-to-date on social media platforms, trend opportunities, changes to the platforms, and best practices
  • Take professional real-estate photos and video of models and inventory homes on an as-needed basis
  • Perform other job tasks or functions as needed or created

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of related experience
  • Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and other social media best practices and trends, with a strong understanding of social media metrics and KPI’s
  • Professional Photography and Videography with Knowledge and confident review of quality visual marketing including but not limited to; photo, video, and creative design.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills with a bright, upbeat, and professional appearance with the expectation of being on camera on a regular basis through customer-facing social media posts, videos, and live feeds.
  • Experience with Hootsuite or similar enterprise-level social media management software
  • Understanding of SEO and website performance metrics
  • Ability to follow social media policies and procedures
  • Creative thinker with excellent written and verbal communication skills; including strong knowledge of proper grammar and spelling
  • Exceptional organizational skills with an eye for detail and accuracy
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data to determine the appropriate action
  • Proven experience developing marketing and communication plans and campaigns within required brand standards and following company content style guides
  • Strong project management, multitasking, and decision-making skills
  • Collaborative team-play mindset with effective communication and project collaboration both within and outside of the Marketing department 
  • Must be reliable and adaptive to change
  • Tech Savvy individual who must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and web browsers and be able to learn other company software or platforms as needed
  • Able to work weekends as needed and reliable transportation with the ability to travel throughout Central Florida as this position will require a lot of travel time

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-6 years related experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Advertising, Journalism, Marketing or related field
  • Experience with graphic design – Adobe Creative Suite
  • Google Analytics Certified
  • Homebuilder or real estate marketing or social media experience
  • Bi-Lingual
