It’s officially spooky season! With Halloween so near, it’s time to make your home just as festive as your costume! Halloween décor can range from smiling Jack-o-lanterns to ghostly and ghoulish choices—and everything in between. No matter which décor style you prefer, we have a few spook-tacular tips and tricks you can use as you prepare your Florida home for All Hallows’ Eve.

Rustic Lanterns

Lanterns are a popular home décor element that you may already have in your home, and their flickering flames make them perfect for Halloween. Spice them up for the holiday by adding cinnamon-scented candles, as the scent alone evokes a fall kind of vibe. Or, switch out your regular candles for black candles that will add a spooky vibe, especially when they begin to melt.

Wreaths and Garland

Even something as simple as greenery can be transformed for any season with the addition of a few elements. Incorporating a few faux pumpkins onto a wreath or as part of a garland strand will transform it from plain to autumnal in an instant! If you want the greenery to be a little spookier, you can also add extras like plastic spiders and faux cotton webs or rubber bats for that Halloween vibe.

Skeleton Accents

Speaking of that Halloween vibe, it definitely wouldn’t be Halloween without a few skeletal remains! The options are nearly limitless for how you can incorporate skeletons into your spooky décor, from funny to downright frightening. For an elaborate option sure to scare the trick-or-treaters, place a skeleton in a faux graveyard in your front yard that looks as if it’s coming out of a grave. Or, go for tasty skeletons instead by decorating simple gingerbread-shaped cookies with skeletal white icing.

Pumpkins

These festive gourds are arguably the quintessential component of any Halloween decoration or celebration. Our favorite ways to use pumpkins include adding a cluster of varying shapes and sizes to your front stoop, painting them to match your home’s interior décor, or carving them with silly faces to delight the youngest kids in the crowd.

Candles

There are so many ways to incorporate candles into your spooky Halloween décor. If you’re planning to host a Halloween gathering, add a whimsical Harry Potter vibe with these DIY-floating candles! Using just a few simple household items – cardboard paper towel rolls, paint, glue sticks and a hot glue gun, as well as a flameless votive candle and clear fishing line – you can have a banquet hall fit for wizards in no time!
