The holiday season is upon us and there are hardly any events better than those at Disney World to get you in the holiday spirit. This year, more than ever, it is important to take part in these magical, cheerful events to help brighten your mood and distract you from the stress of our current economy.\n\nOf course, it's not entirely practical or economical to make a trip to Disney World during the holiday season, unless, of course, you are an Orlando resident. Living in the Orlando area not only makes it extremely convenient to attend all Disney World holiday events every year, but it is also much more affordable since you get to take advantage of the Florida resident rates. Highland Homes builds Orlando new homes at their new community Deer Creek. The central Florida builder also has other communities - Mystery Ridge and Andover, both of which feature new homes in Davenport - in close proximity to these extraordinary theme parks. By living in these communities, there is no reason you can't make it a family tradition to visit Disney World every holiday season.\n\nSo, what exactly does Disney have to offer during this time of year?\n\nThe most popular attraction is Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, going on now through December 18th. Once the Magic Kingdom closes at 7:00 p.m., the park is transformed into a winter wonderland. Guests can enjoy live entertainment including the famous "Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade." Disney characters will be on hand in their festive attire to sign autographs and take pictures. And, of course, there is an amazing fireworks display to light up the sky while classic holiday tunes play in the background. Oh, and every night there is a 100% chance of snow because no holiday celebration would be complete without some snowflakes.\n\nPossibly one of the most impressive light displays can be found at Disney's Hollywood Studios, the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. The streets of America backlot area are decorated with millions of twinkling lights that light up the entire park. Some of the lights are even synchronized to holiday music, creating a visually stimulating light show.\n\nFor a cultural experience, head to Epcot for the Holidays Around the World. The World Showcase gives individuals the opportunity to experience holiday traditions from all over the world without even leaving Orlando. Then, at nightfall, Disney characters host a giant tree-lighting ceremony with music and storytelling. Next, The Lights of Winter, a synchronized light show, will illuminate the World Showcase. And the evening is then complete with "Illuminations," a lights, lasers and fireworks spectacular.\n
