Florida real estate Children at Oakford Estates, as well as Wind Meadows, have the opportunity to attend top ranked Bartow High School.

Next to location and distance from family and friends, schools are among the top factors when it comes to deciding which neighborhood to call home.  Owners of Bartow, Florida real estate can breathe a little easier based on recent school ranking information. The Daily Beast recently ranked the best public high schools in the nation based on how effective they are in producing college-ready graduates.  Bartow High School, which is specifically zoned for two of our Polk County communities, was ranked No. 2 nationwide for their International Baccalaureate (IB) School! Bartow High’s IB School was the only Florida school in the top five and one of just three Florida high schools in the top 10, not to mention the only one located within the zoning for any of our Central Florida new home communities.  With 115 Florida schools ranked on the list in total, it is safe to say that this high school is among the best, if not the best, high school in the entire state. Six components were taken into consideration to form the list: graduation rate, college acceptance rate, AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student, average SAT/ACT scores, average AP/IB/AICE and percent of students enrolled in at least one AP/IB/AICE course. With a perfect 100 percent graduation rate and college acceptance rate, Bartow High’s IB School is certainly well-deserving of the honor and continues to make excellent strides in educating students in Polk County. The International Baccalaureate School, founded in 1995, was originally founded for just 64 students who wanted a bigger challenge beyond Advanced Placement (AP) classes and exams. IB requires students to be immersed in an integrated curriculum that consists of English, science and mathematics as well as becoming fluent in a second language, studying individuals and societies and taking a variety of electives. Additionally, the curriculum consists of a Theory of Knowledge class, where students study major philosophers and learn “how쳌 to think rather than “what쳌 to think, and a community service requirement each academic year. We are very fortunate to have Bartow High School as the zoned school for two of our excellent new home communities, Wind Meadows and Oakford Estates.  Additionally, any student within the greater Polk County area can apply for admission to the International Baccalaureate School. With 70 new students accepted from approximately 400 applicants each year, the IB School provides tough competition and challenges for students even before the application process. Student achievement tests, middle school academic records and essays are used to determine students’ acceptance into the program each year.
