fireworksIf you are in or around the Tampa area on December 31, 2009, then you are in luck. There is no short supply of fun things to do to bring in the new year. Tampa seems to be a city that always has something going on and Highland Homes is proud to build new homes in Tampa at Ayersworth Glen. For all Ayersworth homeowners and other Tampa residents, we are happy to go over some of your options for New Year's Eve in Tampa:\n

  • Ball Drop at Channelside - This is the most popular New Year's Eve destination in Tampa. This is also the official post-parade event for the Outback Bowl's New Year's Eve Parade and Pep Rally in Ybor City. So make your way downtown to enjoy live music, fireworks and the dramatic ball drop.

  • The Florida Aquarium's Claws for Celebration - Every year the Florida Aquarium hosts one heck of a New Year's bash, and this year is no different. The party begins at 9:00 p.m. and concludes at 1 p.m. You need to purchase a ticket in order to get in (which are currently $90 and will be $100 after Dec. 20th) and you must 21 or over. Your ticket includes food, beer and wine as well as a champagne toast at midnight. Live music will be filling the air all evening long, and you'll have an amazing view of the channelside fireworks and ball drop to welcome the new year. There's no doubt this party will start the year off with a bang!

  • For something a little more family-friendly, head to Lowry Park Zoo for the Radio Disney Noon Year's Eve celebration. What's great about this is that it takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. So, you can have your family New Year's celebration with the kids, then go out to an adult-only evening celebration. Anyway, Radio Disney and Lowry Park have partnered together to offer games, arts and crafts, live entertainments, educational displays and more. Plus, kids will be given noisemakers, hats and juice to toast the new year (well to toast the countdown to noon on New Year's Eve). All of these activities are included with Zoo admission.

  • Busch Gardens is hosting a special New Year's Eve celebration for the adventurous. The park will stay open until 1:00 a.m. and offer coasters in the dark, including SkeiKra. Think you are brave enough to experience these rides in the dark of night? Well, the good news is that, come midnight, the sky will be lit with a spectacular fireworks display.
