Winter Haven is a city on the grow! Once known for growing citrus, what’s growing now in this Central Florida city is the local economy. Merlin Entertainments, the parent company of the popular LEGOLAND Florida Resort and second largest attractions operator worldwide, recently announced that it is expanding its presence in Central Florida and making Polk County home to Merlin Entertainments’ North American Operations and global support, with the addition of two new support locations–one in Winter Haven and one in nearby Lake Wales. The announcement is just one of the many new developments in Winter Haven, an area which has seen substantial growth in recent years.
Six/Ten, LLC, a customer care center in the heart of downtown Winter Haven, will be the location of one of Merlin Entertainments support centers and a Lake Wales property will be the home for Merlin Magic Making, the creative arm of the company that develops exciting attractions and hotels, such as LEGOLAND Florida Resort.
According to Adrian Jones, the general manager at LEGOLAND Florida Resort, one of the reasons why Merlin Entertainments chose Central Florida as the site for its new support locations is the outpouring of community support that the company has received since opening the LEGOLAND Florida Resort. The welcoming environment, coupled with downtown Winter Haven’s quality office space, delicious dining options and parking availability are just some of the reasons why businesses choose to expand to the area.
Initially, each new Merlin Entertainments office is expected to bring 50 full time jobs, with additional growth planned for the future. Merlin/LEGOLAND has already expanded multiple times since opening the resort in 2011, most recently opening the LEGOLAND Hotel which encourages theme park visitors to not just come for the day, but stay in Winter Haven and patronize local businesses.
