Florida new homesTo say that the Florida real estate market has improved in 2013 would be an understatement. Report after report shows that home starts continue to rise and homes sales are climbing, and with buyer demand increasing, the growth of the housing market shows no signs of slowing down. As a result of the brighter outlook, U.S. home builders are more optimistic about the future and home builder confidence is nearing an eight-year high.\n\nA reading above 50 on the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo builder sentiment index indicates that builders view sales conditions as good, instead of poor. In mid-August, the index had jumped to 59. The last time the index was above 59 was in November 2005.\n\nWith builders regaining confidence in the sales market, new construction has increased to keep up with growing demand. Over the last year, there has been consistent pickup in new construction and as of August, applications for permits to build single-family homes were at a five-year high across the country. Not only does that mean more options for buyers, but it is also a boost to the economy as each new home started creates an average of three jobs for a year and generates about $90,000 in tax revenue.\n\nThis national sentiment of builder confidence also rings true here in Central Florida. At Highland Homes, we are excited to see the growth of the housing market and look forward to a strong year at the close of 2013 and an even better year in 2014.
