\n\nKathie McDaniel, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Highland Homes, and Amy Cooper, Marketing Manager at Highland Homes, were recently recognized for their dedication and service to the industry, receiving awards from the Professional Women in Building (PWB). At the PWB awards luncheon, held at the International Builder’s Show (IBS), McDaniel was named the 2012 Member of the Year and both women received continuing education grants.\n\nMcDaniel was recognized as the Member of the Year for her leadership on a national and local level. As Area 5 Trustee for the National Association of Home Builder’s PWB Council, she got members involved, coordinated events and helped to create the PWB of the Polk County Builders Association (PCBA).\n\nSince its inception last fall, the PWB of the PCBA has had a successful impact on the local community. PCBA’s executive office, Stephanie Hutton, was named the Executive Officer of the Year at the luncheon for her efforts in the formation of the chapter. Additionally, the PWB of the PCBA won second place for their community outreach event, Cocktails and Conversation BINGO Night, which benefitted the kidsPACK of Polk County.\n\n\n\nThe Merillat “Women of the Future쳌 education grants will allow Cooper and McDaniel to pursue further education in the building industry. Cooper plans to use her scholarship to finance studies towards her Master in Residential Marketing designation, which is bestowed upon less than one percent of building industry professionals.\n\nHome building is no longer a man’s world and the PWB gives women the opportunity to come together and celebrate each other’s successes in the homebuilding industry. As the first PWB Council in Florida, the PWB of the PCBA provides local women in building with the tools to succeed through various publications, awards, scholarships, seminars, programs and networking opportunities. For more information on the PWB of the PCBA, visit them on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/CentralFLPWB.\n\nHighland Homes builds beautiful new homes in Orlando, Tampa Bay, Lakeland and Winter Haven.
