We began building luxurious new homes in South Lakeland at Treymont in February and are excited to debut the brand-new model home now open in this gated community located off Crews Lake Road in the exclusive Highlands area of Lakeland.

Designed and decorated by the professional designers of the Highland Homes Personal Selection Studio, the interior of this Waylyn model home features décor that is certain to make you feel right at home.

The design team decided on a boho, or Bohemian, decor theme consisting of lighter-toned woods and accent colors of white, beige, and black. 

“The boho trend is popular right now in home décor, and we enjoyed curating the pieces in this model home to showcase that trend,” said Stacey Antonakos-Perez, Highland Homes’ Design Studio Manager and lead model designer. “Boho decor tends towards traditional wood and neutral tones with eclectic accents and we loved adding black as a dramatic accent color along with boho elements such as mixed patterns and textures, greenery, and macramé, balanced out with simple white window treatments and linens.”

The Heart of the Waylyn – The Kitchen

When designing the kitchen, the design team took cues from not only the overarching boho theme, but also how homeowners use this space and feature popular among homeowners in this Lakeland new home community.

Cabinets provide the base of any kitchen design and the team chose 36-in. staggered shaker-style white cabinets based both on their popularity and the clean look they provide, which is versatile for a variety of design styles including the bohemian décor chosen for this home. With soft-close hinges, you’ll never hear a slammed cabinet or drawer again, so it’s easy to see why these are one of the most popular cabinets selected by homeowners! 

The polished gleam of quartz countertops caps off the cabinets. This coordinating countertop in Cameo Pearl, a soft white with grey flecks and veining, is a brand-new option available at the Highland Homes design studio and the expansive counter-height island and bar in the Waylyn offered the perfect opportunity to showcase this luxurious new product.

Behind the counters, a stone mosaic backsplash featuring the soft white and grey tones of Mohawk’s Chateau Elegant Naples provides an eye-catching element and perfectly complements the chosen cabinets and countertops. And, no kitchen is complete without appliances! Samsung is our appliance manufacturer of choice thanks to their innovative technologies and this kitchen includes a full suite of Samsung fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel appliances, including the sleek, built-in look of a 4-door flex smart refrigerator with an innovative beverage center.

Designing Themed Rooms

When planning a new model home, the design team first starts by thinking about how people might live in the space, and the new model at Treymont is no exception. From the comfortable furnishings in the gathering room to the themes used in each bedroom, you can imagine loving life in this home. 

This starts right at the entry of the Waylyn model, in the den. With more and more people working remotely, the den shows how this room can be used for a home office, which is incredibly in demand right now.

“We added trim work in the den, and I love the way it turned out,” said Stacey. “We painted a black accent on the wall behind the desk and overlayed it with vertical stripes of natural 1x2-inch wood, creating an eye-catching back drop for video meetings.” 

Two of the Waylyn’s secondary bedrooms share a Jack and Jill bathroom. The design team chose to decorate these as children’s rooms, with one bedroom as a nursery, and one as a little girl’s room. The fourth bedroom in the Waylyn has its own bathroom, making this perfect for a guest room.

The design team doesn’t just pay attention to the big picture items – they also ensure even the smallest details are handled when designing a home, whether it be a model home such as this or your new home in Lakeland! This Waylyn model home features 18-inch ceramic tile throughout the living area, den, hallways, baths, and laundry room, meaning floors are sure to hold up for the long haul in these high-traffic areas.

And lighting is important in setting a room’s mood, providing illumination for tasks, and accenting the overall décor. The design team chose the Alturas lighting collection from SeaGull Lighting, which features clean, modern light fixtures that enhance the home’s overall appeal.
