\n\nAfter one of the worst housing market crashes in history, it is exciting to see all of the positive progress that has been made throughout the past year. From an increase in buyer demand to rising home prices, all signs point to the housing market bouncing back in a big way.\n\nSpecifically, real estate in Polk County saw a hefty annual increase in August with the county’s median sale price for existing homes rising to $130,000. According to the Florida Realtors Association, that is a 23.8 percent increase from 2012. Across the state of Florida, August represented the 20th month in a row that the single-family home price has increased year-over-year. Statewide, the median sales price for existing single-family homes hit $175,000 in August, an 18.6 percent increase from August 2012.\n\nHome prices aren’t the only thing on the uptick in Polk County right now. In August, local Realtor associations reported that 499 Florida homes were sold throughout the county, marking the best August for home sales since 2006.\n\nRising home sales and home prices are good for a recovering market, and there has also been a decline in inventory homes. Economists say a six-month supply of homes is expected in a healthy market, and Lakeland only currently has four-months of inventory. What does this mean? More new homes are being built to meet home buyer demand!\n\nAs a Polk County home builder, Highland Homes has started construction on many new homes throughout the area with communities in Winter Haven, Lakeland, Lake Hamilton, Bartow, Mulberry, Davenport and coming soon, Auburndale.
