Parents in Bartow and South Lakeland are excited about the opening of Spessard L. Holland Elementary, a new school off of US 98 South and E.F. Griffin Rd. which will be opening this month. Students from Stevens, Valleyview, and Highland City Elementary have been rezoned to attend this state-of-the-art elementary, and the school is open to other students throughout Polk County.
Kindergarten through 5th-grade students will enjoy the benefits of a high-tech classroom setup featuring interactive smart boards, an audio enhancement system to amplify the teacher's voice, and 3-4 laptop computers in every classroom. Two buildings will house the classrooms as well as a dedicated laptop computer lab and an art and music suite.
Spessard L. Holland Elementary will offer a rigorous and relevant curriculum based on Polk County standards, and a focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education encouraging academic excellence, innovative thinkers and problem solvers. Other special programs include art, gifted, KidCare, music, physical education, speech/ESE, and voluntary pre-K and school readiness.
