For those that are relocating to Florida or unfamiliar with the area, the region referred to as Tampa Bay consists of the main city areas ofTampa, St. Peterburg and Clearwater, as well as the nearby regions of North Port — Bradenton — Sarasota to the south, Citrus County to the north, and Polk County (Lakeland — Winter Haven) to the east.

In 2014, Tampa Bay’s Hillsborough, Pinellas and Polk Counties saw record high numbers for tourism tax revenue with a total of $64.5 million. The consistent growth in tourism tax revenue is a sign that people enjoy visiting Tampa Bay, and it is those same positive factors that have made Tampa Bay one of Florida’s fastest growing real estate markets.

Tampa Bay residents that enjoy a round of 18 will want to check out Tampa Bay’s many top-rated golf courses. In fact, Golf Digest recently released its list of the top 75 public golf courses in Florida and Tampa Bay golf courses took four of the top six spots with Polk County’s Streamsong Resort Red and Blue courses taking the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. Receiving top honors from Golf Digest further solidifies Streamsong Resort’s standing as one of the top golf destinations in the country, an impressive feat since it has been open for less than two years. Other Tampa Bay courses to receive recognition on the list included World Woods Golf Club-Pine Barrens (No. 4) in Brooksville and Innisbrook’s Copperhead Course (No. 6) in Palm Harbor.

In addition to renowned golf courses, Legoland Florida has contributed to increased interest in Polk County, and surrounding areas. Open since October 2011, Legoland Florida continues to draw local and worldwide visitors with its more than 50 rides, shows and attractions. Earlier this year, Legoland Florida announced that its new 152-room hotel will open in May 2015 providing more job opportunities and driving demand for Tampa Bay real estate.
