To compile the list, WalletHub compared 300 cities of varying sizes and used 17 indicators to score the strength of the housing market and economy, along with housing affordability. The ranking metrics spanned an array of factors, from the appreciation of home prices to building permit activity, foreclosure rates, and job and population growth.

If you are a first-time homebuyer, the news gets even better! WalletHub also crunched data to determine the best cities for first-time home buyers and Tampa, Orlando, and Lakeland all rank on that list, as well:
