Escape Winter Weather with a Florida New Home
As much of the southeast is getting hit by its second major winter storm this season, and New Yorkers are digging out from under one-to-two feet of snow, many home buyers are searching for homes in warmer climates including the Lakeland-Winter Haven, Florida area. Lucky for us, Florida is currently the only state in the US without snow on the ground!
Trulia recently compiled a list of the top 10 metros where homes searches rise the most when winter strikes. The rankings were compiled based on an increase in searches for each 10-degree temperature drop where the searcher currently lives. In this study, the top 10 winter home search metros include:
- Miami, Fla. – 7.3 percent
- Phoenix, Ariz. – 6.9 percent
- Jacksonville, Fla. – 6.4 percent
- Orange County, Calif. – 6.4 percent
- Richmond, Va. – 6.4 percent
- Lakeland-Winter Haven, Fla. – 6.3 percent
- Sacramento, Calif. – 6.2 percent
- New Orleans, La. – 6.2 percent
- Dayton, Ohio – 6.1 percent
- Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – 6.1 percent
These rankings were determined among the 100 largest metros, based on searches by people in the colder regions of the country.
